Wish You were Here

Well - my “old mate” - Charlie Boorman has finally embarked for Japan on a cruise liner in the penultimate issue of the B.B.C program - Sydney to Tokyo by any Means.

This hopefully means the whole of next weeks show , will be about two of my favourite subjects – motorcycles and Japan - but strangely not Japanese
motorcycles :)

The preview itself - showed Charlie riding a Harley across The Rainbow Bridge in Tokyo , and I’m tempted to say - “ been there , done that and got the T shirt “ but its only two thirds true in my case , as even the mighty Harley Davidson’s influence - seemingly does not extend to hiring their bikes in Japan …..

………………………..Timbuktu - yes…… Tokyo - no …..:)

No doubt I mystify a lot of people on here with my enthusiasm for Japan , so if you watch this program on B.B.C 2 next Sunday at 9.00 you can probably understand why , the rest of you outside the U.K. can probably dial it up on Youtube , and as for the motorcycling part goes well that’s unexplainable , so I suggest you try that for yourself :)

Poles Apart
----------------------------------

I got a phone call off my sister yesterday , who must have really , really had something on her mind , as she immediately launched in to something about ……being on the phone to my dad , and something about mental illness in the family……………….

So I say …..“ are you asking me or telling me” ( about the mental illness ) which of course stops her dead in her tracks , and totally cracks her up………………….

Then after the “p*ssing herself laughing” - subsides – I say……

“ok - slowly and from the beginning “ …..

…..the gist of which she has been unfortunately , diagnosed with Bi Polar .

Bi Polar used to be called manic depression in the good old days , and probably warranted a straight jacket and padded cell , and to be honest is something I have only heard about - fairly recently - as a term, but guessed by the name it probably had something to do with……………………………….

………………..gay people living at the South Pole………………

Now I’m sure , my sister like the rest of you out there would probably prefer this humorous explanation , although I somehow think those afflicted with –
political correctness - probably wouldn’t :)
