Well - I was wandering back to my car last Saturday morning , only to be confronted ………..by a gang of Cockneys - who had got lost on a roundabout :).

Think I should explain here , shouldn’t I –

Cockneys are of course - natives of London ( and hence the title ) , and a roundabout is usually a circular - concrete , traffic intersection about 30 ft ( 10m) in diameter.

Now of course , your all thinking - they must have all been pretty drunk to get lost on a small circle of concrete , in the middle of the road :)

Well this particular “circle of concrete” is slightly different , in that it has several buildings in it , and is so complicated , even I got lost there – once, so I reckon some
“ very naughty local ” had probably directed them there on purpose, as it wasn’t even in the vague direction as to where they were wanting to go .

So after we got past the initial language barrier ……………

I had a bit of a laugh to myself the other day , when a news reporter on T.V.was going around asking people how much do they want to pay for music now a days , and the unequivocal answer was ……absolutely……. f**k all …but not in so many words :)

The youth of today – huh ….tsk….tsk .…tsk …..:)

………..although hang on , that person they just interviewed , could pass for your grandmother , and him - your dad - in fact none of them, had so much as a baseball cap , or even the merest trace of acne - between them ………..shocking :)

I reckon the music industry in general has been fleecing everyone for years and years with their overpriced product, and this is probably payback time from everybody , and not just the poor 14 year old girl - the industry seemed “fit” to prosecute last year .


Talking of music in general , I personally come from a metal background , and I’ve got to say there are very , very few women vocalists in this particular type of music , although there are of course some exceptions , but as a rule its fairly true.

So if you want music sung by the fairer sex , you have to search amid other genres, and my own favourite tracks by female singers are drawn from several different types of music and include -

I think my Sports Centre has finally clicked on after all these years that a good proportion of women actually use the Centre , so one of the three television stations has now been thrown over to the fairer sex , in the shape of The Craft Channel , leaving B.B.C 1 and Sky Sports on the other two.

It’s amazing how mesmerizing this craft channel actually is, as you seen a lot of guy’s intently watching this station , but quickly averting their eyes to the sports channel , commenting on “ the rugby score” , as their macho Police colleagues walk in , and of course I’m half tempted to say to them -

“ so what do you think of the buy of the day , all those inks and card making material certainly seem very good value to me “ :)


The three televisions in the gym have no sound on them , so you have to plug earphones in to get it - hence all you are getting are pictures , so the card making demonstrations are straightforward , but the adverts are another thing , as you have to imagine the dialog…………………..

One particular advert is for a U.K. organisation called The Co- op ( pronounced
coe - opp , and not coop as in chicken ) , who have amid many other business interests , a chain of shops selling food , and their current tag line for this part of the business is ………

………” The Co-op ……….Good - with Food “ ………………..

Which is self explanatory , but they have also recently started advertising their funeral services , so would the tagline for this one be ………

St George is The Patron Saint of England , and I was very surprised to find out our dragon slaying friend must have got about a bit in his youth , as he is also The Patron

Ye gods !!! - there must have been a few dragons about in those days , you can trust us English to go and sort that out – though :)

Now - I carefully chose the Gold Three Lions , which is the symbol of our own royal family, over our own national flags a few years ago , as both the Union Jack and The Cross of St George have been unfortunately - high jacked by racists and of course the football hooligans over the years - as I’ve said before .

I do wish these idiots would stop hiding behind our national symbols , and just fly their true colours , as I’m sure they would love to break out the old symbols of Fascism- but hey - aren’t they just are cowards - hiding behind a veil of faux nationalism and respectability, by using our own countries flags .

I was talking about avoiding going to pointless meetings the other week , but unfortunately - being a Union Rep’ - I sometimes get volunteered………..

So today’s particular meeting was a Sustainability Group , which is something I do agree with in principle , but unfortunately this type of subject always seems to attracts all the nutcases .So - amid all the usual agenda items , there was a suggestion that was put forward which left me absolutely and utterly - speechless.- for once in my life :).

This was suggesting in all seriousness -

“ That people all use bicycles to get to the airport when they go on holiday ...!!!.....”

Yes that’s right - forget the practicalities of the matter like the fact that our nearest airport is a “mere” 30 miles away , and the fact you are probably carrying several heavy cases - illegally , just spend several hundred Pounds on bikes for you and all of your family , and just pedal there.. ….…………simple ………..

Sorry - I can just imagine the scenes of total and utter - carnage and death as the nations holidaying families set off - day’s or even – weeks before their flights - , several heavy cases perched on their heads , with trucks screaming past - little Jenny’s pink bike with stabilisers , lagging several miles behind the rest - at 80 mph

Now as you all know - I mountain bike to work 365 days a year - if possible ,

……….so I mentioned the above fact to “ Mr Bicycle to the Airport “ , and then asked the question…………….

……………..” what about the other 364 day’s ??? “ ……………….

Fully knowing that the guy who was making the above suggestion , was one of the mindless hordes who drive a mile or so , to work and back , in a car with no other occupants…………

Ripping the planet apart for the majority of your life , and then appeasing your own conscience by trying to foist - idiotic “green” ideas on others , is something politicians have done for years , as you only have to look at the current election campaigns wasting money on candidates flying or driving around in chauffer driven limo’s - who will then turn around and lecture you about ………

So this idiotic ethos , has obviously now filtered down to ill informed moron on the
street , who must think its ok to spout this garbage , as they have seen politicians do it on T.V……and of course it must be right ……mustn’t it :)

Well today marked a very large victory in my eyes ………….

Nah - something dead simple , but in my mind very essential , and that is - ensure my employer is now actually - appointing fire Marshall’s , as opposed to solely relying on people volunteering , which has been the custom in the past .

Well if you think about it it’s a big one and entails insurance , as if you volunteer you services , you are not insured - hence if you get injured , or heaven forbid killed - its your problem….

No seriously - this is all - regardless of the fact you are carrying out a legally required health and safety function, in protecting other employees , and of course - safeguarding your employers business. premises .

Unfortunately – this became an impassable situation a while ago , as our employer would simply not pay for the insurance that covered the essential fire marshals , hence everyone quiet rightly resigned their voluntary posts , this being a bad situation for both interested parties , but would you put your life at risk for nothing ???

This stalemate was sorted out last week, by me having to take the relevant
Fire Legislation to a Departmental Health and Safety meeting , and threatening to involve The Health and Safety Executive if a solution wasn’t found - immediately.

So today – lo and behold , what do I see in a Corporate Health and Safety memo to all staff ….. bearing nothing less , than that immortal phrase ………..

……………...“ Fire Marshals will be appointed “ ……………….

……..meaning that they are now covered by our employers insurance :)

Well - its like turning the clock back - years , what with Royal Navy warships turning up at various ports around the world to pick up bedraggled - U.K. citizens , who are stuck in the proverbial “ corners of foreign fields ” :)

I’m not due to fly out to Japan for a while , as I said yesterday , but I thought I’d check what the procedure was as regards cancellations , and it seems I can re- arrange my holiday or get a refund ., although I think I’ll wait a while before pressing the panic button :) .

I’m actually travelling with one of Britain’s best companies - Virgin Airways / Holidays , and whilst I don’t normally endorse people , services or products on here , I would like to say they are really excellent in both service and ethics .

Talking of airlines - I jokingly mentioned - yesterday , about Willie Walsh - Chief Executive of British Airways - trying to sue the volcano for loss of earnings , and in an ironic twist of fate he is in reality - now trying to sue The E.U. for keeping his planes grounded .

The question is if it’s safe to fly - according to Mr Walsh - I just wonder why British Airways planes are now sat on the airport tarmac , with plastic bags wrapped around their engines …….makes you think…….doesn’t it ………..


Never mind Willie - I’m sure the good taxpayers of this country will bail your private little profit making empire - out , rather like they did the banks , but hey – what’s a few more years of suffering – yet even more Government cuts , to the taxpayer – anyway !!!

Just for a laugh - I was looking at the route you could drive to Japan – overland , and I worked out you can probably get as far as Eastern Russia , where it seems the roads actually turn in to swamps , although there is of course - several hundred miles of ocean between Russia and Japan too :) .

Well - I woke up today with a wonderful film of dust all over my once immaculately clean car …………

So I made a mental note to give it a clean – later , and with the hilarious thoughts of

Now - alongside the cycle track is a long line of lights, and you usually get pigeons sitting on them , but today - it was strangely quiet , and I rode along for a while to find that the reason , was a hawk perched on the lights - instead , and it took off as I was passing - flying alongside me for a while , before veering off to go in search of pigeon for its breakfast – no doubt :)

It’s at moments like this, that you realise how powerful and wonderful nature can
be , whether it’s a volcano - the black and white- flash of a powerful hawk , or the dainty - water like flow of a squirrel running through the woodlands – not being chased by the hawk – I hasten to add :)

Like for example , and it took me ages to come up with these -

Taking away the fact that I was personally - taught not to use these two words in this context , as they are joining words in correct English , plus the fact - I would not usually walk in to a room , and start a verbal conversation with these two words – either .

I suspect that this change probably has something to do with the “dumbing down process” that seems to be going on as we speak , although if you look at it , allowing this useage is not making it easier at all , as you just skip these words- altogether , and just use the next word in the sentence - i.e………………


“ I was thinking today …………..”

“ The fact is – no band’s ……”


………….I’ts actually easier, if you see what I mean .

So maybe it’s an anti “dumbing down” measure – although I some how - doubt it :)

Well I’ve gotta say - I’m all for Equality and Diversity for everyone in today’s

Well - I was watching yet another modern art program on B.B.C Four last night, and
the particular focus of this show , was basically a set of artists setting up an exhibition.of art for public viewing .

Now amid the assembled characters –

There was one lady who actually stole objects , and then swallowed them , but behold the object coming out “ the other end” – so to speak ……..

……………….was the art – itself …… ……

………………..a sort of reverse - talking sh*t – maybe :)

Her actual - exhibit was a large Rhododendron bush, that she had stolen from Spain , but surprisingly - not swallowed - maybe the bush was too big to get out of her arse :),
and to compliment this , there was all the ensuing e- mails with the owner of the
bush………. pasted “lovingly” to the wall with black insulating tape .


One guy had a load of Chinese Olympic Mascots incorporated in to his own piece , and this was supposedly - sticking two fingers up to the regime – there , because it had the word “ tanks” written on it…. ......clever or not- you decide………although he sold this piece to a guy for £1000 when he could have got £4000 ………….

You then had a guy who put strobe lights in a conch shells ,and had glittery streamers coming out of a sharks jawbone , which is fine , except he seemed at a real loss as to why he was actually doing it all , which to me - unfortunately means its just some kind of superficial act for the sake of it, or he is plain honest about not making something superficial up ………….

…………….about the strobe light being wholly indicative of man polluting the
ocean , and the sharks jaw - spewing mans consumerism ……………


Wooops ………I’m getting too “good” at this – aren’t I :)

Finally - we had a guy who shot canvasses with a paint ball gun, although by this time I was wishing I could shoot the whole f***king lot of them with the paint ball gun :)

Now here’s an odd one for you -

I was having a dream on Saturday night , about having a real heated - argument concerning - cooking food in our kitchen at work , and when that very strange topic was over , it all went grey with vertical black lines – rather like the end of a film or television program

I woke up , and yes I wasn’t dreaming about this part - opened my eyes and the gray with the black lines were still there , shut my eyes – still there , and then opened them again - with my normal sight - restored.

Ah ….!!! …. it was one of those “dreams within dreams” I hear you thinking , but I’m sure I did actually wake up at the end , and can only conclude that - part of my own subconscious was actually spilling momentarily in to the real world , for some unknown reason .

This has certainly never happened to me before , and I just wonder if it has happened to anyone else , as I think - what looked to me like a manufactured end to the dream had actually crossed over in to reality .

Now - I can come to no firm reasoning about the above , although it could be - my mind simply playing tricks on me , or maybe some one is really trying to tell me
something - hence me sharing this , that in the vain hope , its happened to some one else out there…………..

Following on from the previous two days topics of Dr Who ……sort of …….:)

Well it seems like its 1297 here - again , as the blue clad Scottish Clans charge over the hillside - Claymores drawn ……. in to the line of waiting Redcoats ………

Ah - good old English / Scottish history – don’t you love it :)

Well except this time it’s a wide eyed gang of modern sci fi fans , now doing the charging…….. menacingly - brandishing their Dr Who magazines and frying pans - dressed in card board monster suits , strip- o- gram outfits , and of course ……..
……….. red wigs ………………. and that’s just the guy’s :)

It’s me of course- defending the honour of the English - armed only with my blue flashing - sonic screwdriver of irony …………

With the raging hordes bearing down on me - upon reflection - I reckon I’d rather be hit over the head with a glossy magazine than a Claymore - that’s if the ringleader of this particular melee can actually reach without standing on a box - of course :) , although I reckon - the verbal tongue lashing , will probably be a whole lot worse .

Now is it just me , or are the rest of the U.K. Populous already bored to the hind teeth by the be- suited criminals trying to persuade you to vote for them . I turned on the news on yesterday and was uninterested after a whole five seconds !!! .

Well I think my local Sports Centre has now been converted to a covert - secret agents facility - overnight :)

This is because it has now gone from being a show your membership card to the guy on the desk to get in – type of place , to a swipe card - high security facility .

You now have to swipe the card not once , but twice - through two separate barriers to get in, and of course I cheekily asked the guy on the desk - if I also had to sign the official secrets act ……….which went over his head :)

Anyway - The first barrier is to get in the main door , and after changing you have to swipe a second to get in to the gym , and this made me wonder how sweat proof these cards actually are , but more importantly – how water proof - as you will no doubt leave it in your shorts pockets , only to see it swimming around in the washing machine on the spin cycle :)

I’ve not got very much confidence in the above , as judging by the number of people bouncing off the barriers , as a slight piece of dust stopped the cards opening , plus the fact that the swipe system is about 3 feet ( 1m) from the gym door , and you have what seems like a micro second to get from one to the other before the system
re - sets :)

Now to get out is a much “simpler” process - if you can actually find the carefully camouflaged - door release buttons – masquerading as a drawing pin on the notice board , or alternatively - so far down the barrier you have to be the size of a two year old child , to actually see it :)


My own thesis on this system - is its not a load of cheap second hand rubbish installed on a whim :) , but as The Sports Centre is officially part of The Police Training Facility , its got to be some kind of stealthy intelligence test / game show ,
as there’s nothing as funny as a fat copper bouncing off a locked door is there……

Well after watching the latest episode of the B.B.C ’s Dr Who on Saturday night, its almost as if its ex - producer /director/writer - Russell T .Davies has never actually left the show !!!

What with an ongoing weak storyline and cheap laughs, if I were a conspiracy theorist , I’d say it was still him still writing this rubbish - but under a pen name, although I am assured he is now being currently - inflicted , upon the good people of the U.S.A. ……………GOD HELP YOU………… :)

The new doctor character is actually - fine , but an assistant that’s a stereotypical imitation redhead , who just happens to be a ………. and wait for this a…………… .

To be honest - there is definitely - no actual depth to the storyline at all , and as
for the………….

I’m not really sure what audience Dr Who is actually aimed at , and going off what I’ve seen so far , it’s probably the average ten year old child with a two second attention span , although saying that - the short skirted - strip a gram- element , certainly - say’s otherwise .

So is this a case of the B.B.C. still trying to cover every base in a typical - politically correct - Russell T Davies - style , and in doing so - failing miserably on all levels with a total and utterly disjointed mess – probably .

There is however some light at the end of the tunnel for us “proper” sci fi fans , as in the five or six years that the new Dr Who has been running there was at least one good episode , and that was entitled - Blink , and the writer of that particular episode is in the new series

So I’ll postpone the new series - judgement till then , and go try The V - remake on the sci fi Channel , although knowing my luck our American friends will have recruited …………Russell. T. Davies ………..to re – write it ………….:)

There has of course been all this commotion over hung parliaments - here , but the real reason for this is not really elaborated upon.

Now - I just wonder , if our political masters are indeed worried that the great unwashed out there , may possibly not vote in this election in large numbers , and hence the hung parliament question .Which I reckon , which is fair enough - considering all that has gone on in the past few months in both the political and business worlds .

When I state my own thoughts on the non voting question , the most common answer is ….

Unfortunately - that is where we have all been got - a system and the group of people running it - that are corrupt , and legally it can only be changed by politicians with all the vested interests - yes a real Catch 22 - situation

So my simple answer to that is –

………which I suggest should be led and carried out by an impartial body of people , who have absolutely no political or big business connections .

the shirt off my back ..................

Ten Bob Shrinker - one of my………..errrr….…….and how can I put this…………… ……errrrr……….more tight fisted - work colleagues , was out buying himself a “new” shirt a while ago at a charity shop , and he forked out a whole ……………£10..40 for it …………….. or so he thought :).

Now whilst I do understand that due to the recession people have to cut back , this is certainly not the case with Shrinker - being a professional Scrooge , as he even was even complaining about paying £10.40 for this shirt.. !!!


Anyway - the weeks pass , and Shrinker’s credit card bill drops on to his door mat , and I’d have loved to have been a fly on the wall when he opened it and discovered he’d actually been charged ……………£1010. 40…………

……………….as in one thousand and ten pounds and forty pence…………

Now I can imagine all the fuss , when Shrinker was actually buying the shirt in the first place , and all the complaining about having to actually - spend some money .!!!

So we reckon the guy behind the counter maybe - accidentally on purpose :)
keyed an extra 10 in to the bill……………..tsk ……tsk…. …:)

Now here’s a sound I absolutely…….LOVE……. at this time of the year , and that is the wonderful sound of my holiday allowance being topped up back to its full 31 days…….plus of course the opportunity to swell that by an extra 13 under our excellent Flexi Time System :)

We have a holiday card system at work , and you mark your holidays on the card and it’s then signed and authorised – simple :)

Now we’d heard through the grape vine that Ten Bob Shrinker was complaining after the first person had got their card signed - for some unknown reason , so of course the remaining 20 of us filled our cards in and put them on his desk :)


Which is nearly as bad as getting photographs of random strangers using one of our other work colleagues telephone, who incidentally - doesn’t like people using his phone , and then putting a collage of it all on his wall :)
