I always reckon the journey itself is a whole lot better than the destination , although the light at the end of the tunnel always spurs you on , and with this in mind -
Sunday nights thrilling episode of Sydney to Tokyo by any Means - had Charlie Boorman making it to Tokyo on a customised Harley , crossing the Rainbow Bridge….. fist in the air ……
Harley heroics aside , and to be perfectly honest the ending seemed to be a bit of an anti climax , and I’m sure it was the actual editing of the program that made it seem like this , probably combined with the fact it was a little too predictable in the end - but that’s the human race for you :).
I’ve never really been in to shooting moving images , but my SLR camera has a unique movie shooting mode – for an SLR , so I’ve just bought myself a new large capacity memory card , battery and a Japanese adaptor for the charger , ready for my own trip to Japan next year , and of course buying this stuff early means I can practice my shooting techniques , or total lack there of :)
I’ve actually had a Youtube account for ages but never really thought of posting my exploits on there, but this seems like a great future opportunity……
Talking of Youtube - it never ceases to amaze me the wealth of things already on
there - like the hotel I stayed in when visiting Tokyo , Antiknock the metal club I went to , and of course - Alcatraz , which is a prison hospital themed - restaurant , it also has the “legendary” Krispy Kream’s queue - preserved for posterity too , so my own effort will have to be good .
I wish I had thought of this on my first three trips to Japan , as amid other things , I - D..J.’d in a rock club and drifted a Misubishi Evo around the car park in The Tokyo Bay area , and watching me talking Harley’s to two guys who couldn’t understand English must have been hilarious - to name but a few , and guess what – not a single script in sight :)
Hmmmmm ….. this could have been a …..quadrilogy …… and try saying that when your sober – never mind drunk.
