Out to Lunch ….. for ten years ….
Well …. I’ve been seconded next week …. yet again :)
The particular scheme involved , as I’ve said before , should have finished months ago , and in a “radical” effort to finally end it all after ten or so years – trying ….. ……
………………we are actually going mobile :).
Like I say , this process has been ongoing for well over ten years , as has my involvement in it , and by my reckoning were actually on to the mark three version of it , thus some of the stories associated with this are totally and utterly……
…….unbelievable………….
Unfortunately - I’ll have to wait till it’s finished before spilling the beans ……..
…………so watch this space ……as I’ve probably got months and months of material…..
Anyway – yes…………. going mobile …………….
The reason behind this, is people were “ supposedly forgetting” to turn up to a central location where we are all based .
So instead of management ensuring they keep their appointments, although I get the impression they are actually management – themselves , it now seems we are going to visit them……..
…cue hundreds of potential pitfalls …and even more material for here :)…
I reckon because of the ongoing length of time , I’ll have to think of an overall title for this epic saga , and I’m unfortunately erring towards something with the very , very naughty …….* C *……. word in it :)

The New Million
Well - I for one cannot really comprehend what a billion is - especially in monetary terms , but according to my sources it’s a million – million , which again Is an incomprehensible figure to a mere mortal , like myself :)
Now - with all the proposed spending cuts , and subsequent loss of 600,000 jobs in the U.K, I now learn that our Local Authorities have a massive ………….
……………and just wait for this ………£14 billion …….sat in reserve ….!!!..............

If you read the B.B.C article above , you will find the majority of this money is supposedly allocated to schools …etc…etc… , but that still leaves a whopping
£ 3.5 billion of public money , still just sitting there....collecting interest …….
With the above in mind , I just wonder why jobs are potentially are now being cut , as the money to sustain them , and the essential services they provide , actually exists in the bank accounts of those who will eventually do the cutting .
Looking a little deeper in to it , this raises a further question in my mind -
In that - where did The B.B.C. get this information from ?
I reckon maybe - via The Freedom of Information act , or from a cynical point of view - one of those “leaks”, that is probably designed to take the heat off Central Government , by putting the onus - squarely on to “the money bags” - Local Government .
So - if jobs go , is it case of Central Government turning around and saying ……
……..” they had billions in the bank , but chose not to spend it “…………….

Old T.V. Series r Us
It seems our works version of The Odd Couple , i.e. - Dave and Alan have had a bit of a fall out – today :)
This was judging by the fact Dave had his crisps ( potato chips ) on a plate at break time.
Now this was odd behaviour even for Dave:) , but Alan had apparently objected to Dave rattling the packet around and spoiling the library like ambience of the office .
So Dave had then put them on a plate , and me walking in and suggesting that he eat them with a knife and fork – didn’t help – either :)
Loose Clothing

One of our managers we have aptly named - Slack Pants had been avoiding yet another manager – Tim last week , and one of our secretaries – Sue was getting absolutely sick of taking messages, especially as Slack Pants was just sat in his office refusing to answer the phone , as he was messing around on the net on his personal laptop ….!!!......
So I was sat in Sue’s office , and she explained that Tim had rang up about eight or nine times that day with no success , so he had just announced he was coming over………….. and Slack Pants didn’t know ….:)
So I had to stay to watch this one ……….
A few minutes later I saw Tim come flying through the front door , and the expression of total and utter surprise as he landed in Slack Pant’s office , and I just wandered off and left them to it .
I was later met by Slack Pants walking up the corridor looking dejected , saying
……………… “ do you wish you never got up this morning ……”
Some people…………. :)

我々のマネージャーの一つは、私たちは、適切な名前がある - ティム先週、私たちの秘書のいずれかを - - スラックパンツにはまだ他のマネージャー避けていたスーは絶対に撮影メッセージの病気になっていた、スラックパンツだけで答えを拒否して彼のオフィスに座っていた特に電話、彼は彼の個人的なラップトップ上で、ネット上でぶらぶらしていたとして... .!!!......
だから私はスーさんのオフィスに座っていた、彼女はティムが不成功に日ので、彼はちょうど彼が上に来ていた... ...発表したことについて8〜9回交流鳴ったと説明した... ... ... ... ... ... ..とスラックパンツは知らなかった...：）。
だから私は見て滞在していたこの一... ... ... ... ... ...。
彼はスラックパンツのオフィスに上陸したとして、数分後、私は合計と全く驚きの表現と、ティムは、フロントドアを通って飛んでくるのを見た、私はすぐそばに迷い、それにそれらを残しました。
私は後でと言って、落胆を探して廊下を歩いてスラックパンツで満たされた

ALL HAIL …..Dave The Saviour ……
I notice my old mate David Cameron ( a.k.a. Dave The Save’ ) , who is allegedly in charge of this sceptic Isle – now a days , was on an inspection tour of a business – yesterday …… WOW …. I hear you all thinking…..a true man of action ……..:)
Now according to Dave - the entrepreneurial skills behind this particular place - could actually help lift us all out of the recession ………and is the way forward for the next ten years ………..
………….HOOORAY…FOR …DAVID …………
……..and just in time too , as his business / political mates , are probably all down to their last few million ……:)
So did I read this correctly , in that there was actually only one single place he
visited , and not two , ten or even …. a hundred …….which as you all know - we will all need - to help sustain a health and robust recovery……….
……continues in that famous political publication ……Condescending Weekly ……
Now of course - I’m just wondering what this huge - miracle business , actually
makes / manufactures / supplies , as they are going to have to accommodate the million or so people , that Dave is going to put out of work
Hmmmm……..what about……
…..equipment for cleaning castle moats , hedge funds ,ermine trimmed robes , free lunches / travel , duck houses ……….

……….I’ve just got caught with my hand in the public till :)
Well no - it was sustainable energy equipment …….
Which is not really very new or indeed - innovative - I hear you all thinking , but the best bit is - Dave as his party are fully committed to ……and yes you guessed it………

Missing Friday……
Big apologies for not putting anything on here on Friday , as I got well and truly sidetracked with some fairly unexpected Union Business……..
I had a phone call - requesting that I go along to represent 26 of our members , mainly because the local rep’ was in their own words…….
………………..“a little too close to management”……
When the meeting was about to start I checked out the managers faces one by one as they filed in and realised I was sat there , not my colleague – it was hilarious :).
To cut along story short the meeting was about a restructure , and I requested a reasonable extension of two weeks to the process , amid the usual political posturing by management , as it seemed “ their man” wasn’t fronting the workers case……. ………....what a shame……… :)
This particular extension being highly important , as management had stated there was 26 posts for 26 existing members of staff , thus no – one had , quiet rightly made any comments on the structure , before the deadline.
Unfortunately - when it all got down to it , there was actually only 24 posts , and this fact was only sprung upon us in the meeting , and hence my urgent request for an extension so staff can forward their comments/ objections , as the workload had actually - increased .
This is what I would call a fire fighting exercise , and is highly unsatisfactory in my world , although I dread to think what would have happened if it was the other Union Rep’ present ……….”just accept it” ???.......maybe……

Profit from [Pain
I notice stocks and shares prices are on the way up , both here and in France after the announcements of the savage governmental cuts , and this wouldn’t be the financial sector profiting from peoples misery – yet again – would it ……………………
……………………….or is this just a mere ……..coincidence…………….
Now - I seriously doubt - that the much quoted “sharing of the pain” actually effects any political or indeed any financial figure in this country, or for that matter any of their relatives or families – either , as I learn - George Osbourne the current Chancellor , and like the rest of The Cabinet – multi millionaire , and his family , has apparently been accumulating a four million pound slush fund , to avoid paying death duties………….which is tax evasion for the rich in my book …

I see absolutely no cuts in political numbers in Central Government , their wages , conditions or allowances , and meanwhile the financial sector sails on un regulated in to bonus heaven , as one of the bailed out U.K. Banks announces its pit of money for payments to the very same people who caused this recession
……..Vive La France ……….is all I’m saying :)

Offence and Defence
Well - I’ve got a couple of goodies coming up in the next few weeks – a trip to London at the weekend , and of course the Linkin Park gig on Bonfire Night
( Nov 5th) .
Just to balance the good with the not so good - I’ve also got a disciplinary hearing and a further meeting about harassment – both representing other people - I hasten to
add :)
I liken my involvement as a Union Rep’ in these particular scenarios as being like a lawyer – sometimes for the prosecution and sometimes for the defence - depending on the nature of the “alleged offence “
The key to winning these work based cases , is being in control of the facts , rules and regulations , something you’d be surprised to hear - the other side usually aren’t.
I suppose the downfall of the team on the opposing side , is although they are professionals , and I’m a stone amateur , they have for example twenty cases running at the same time , and I’ve only got one , so I can prepare it - meticulously.
To be honest - I only resort to casting doubt on the other sides case as a last resort , but if the rules are not followed properly – well that isn’t my problem - my job in this scenario is to represent , and I will do this to the best of my ability .
The case I had yesterday was hilarious , as the ….c**t…….sorry…sorry…..
manager :) who was running the meeting decided in his “ wisdom” , that I couldn’t actually speak or ask questions on my members behalf , thus ridding the whole country of thousands of years of free speech in a stroke.
I of course - objected , and made sure the notes of the incident were recorded , thus if this case goes any further - my gagging in this meeting by management - breeches our employers rules and regulations , hence serious doubt will be cast on the whole subsequent - process .

C'est La Vie ???
I see our French brothers and sisters all seem to be all out on strike , as regarding the public cuts going on over there , and guess what - we in the U.K.are due this week to hear what our particular austerity measures are………..can hardly wait ……….
There has been the odd riot in this country in the past , but this was mainly when my old mate The Mad Hatter….sorry…sorry…..Maggie Thatcher was in power :) , but to be honest - we tend to peacefully protest in the vain hope that the powers that be will be listening, but I really think we need to be more pro active on this one , simply because Governments are using the easy option - yet again
Ok - how about all the Trade Unions in the affected European / World Countries - getting their heads together in a coordinated , but peaceful - strike against all these measures. The aim being a request that the various Governments tackle these issues with the people who actually caused them , as opposed to the working populace , and then put European / World legislation in place to stop it happening yet - again .
Ha ! …and I bet you all thought I was going to say….. “ go man the barricades “ ….
Mind you - you can actually see how even the mildest mannered people get driven to violence by these people sat in their ivory towers , totally immune from the real
world , making these decisions and not having to suffer any of the consequences
A prime example being Boris Johnson - Mayor of London , who was advocating a ”don’t bash The Bankers” – day , at the very same time his politician mates were savagely cutting child benefits ………………..I ask you …!!!
I certainly do not advocate violence , but I think the old British “ let’s just see what happens “ – way of thinking , is certainly not a good idea- either, although it will soon be …….Nov 5th………..:)

Talk of the Place
I was stood outside the office with a colleague - waiting for today’s session to start.
When I saw this be – suited guy, walking along pulling what I would call an old woman’s shopping trolley - he looked absolutely and utterly - ridiculous , but even more so when his trolley got caught in the door , but guess what - he was the actual manager we had been waiting for ………..
……………..we really , really did not try to laugh……..honestly ..………
I really cannot describe the few hours sat with this guy , so I’ve made a new phrase up to express the horror …………..listening to paint dry… :)
So a few hours later I was leaving the main building , when one of our officious bureaucrats …...sorry …..sorry……parking attendants - mentioned my mountain
bike , and after a short conversation - I gathered that someone had decided they didn’t like me parking it where I did.
Now – whilst this conversation was going on , I could see one of his attendant colleagues talking to one of our guy’s , and he was in the process of removing my bike to a different spot .
So I just stood agreeing with my parking friend , as they disappeared in to the office , a mischievous plan hatching in my evil little mind……
I just waited a short while , and then dramatically barged in to the office , borrowed cell phone in hand - saying……………….
…”someone has stolen my bike ….the b**stards……so I’ve just phoned The Police “
Cue ……………one absolutely horrified looking parking attendant……………
…………….I just let him bluster for a while before spilling the beans ……. :)

When I saw this be – suited guy, walking along pulling what I would call an old woman’s shopping trolley - he looked absolutely and utterly - ridiculous , but even more so when his trolley got caught in the door , but guess what - he was the actual manager we had been waiting for ………..
……………..we really , really did not try to laugh……..honestly ..………
I really cannot describe the few hours sat with this guy , so I’ve made a new phrase up to express the horror …………..listening to paint dry… :)
So a few hours later I was leaving the main building , when one of our officious bureaucrats …...sorry …..sorry……parking attendants - mentioned my mountain
bike , and after a short conversation - I gathered that someone had decided they didn’t like me parking it where I did.
Now – whilst this conversation was going on , I could see one of his attendant colleagues talking to one of our guy’s , and he was in the process of removing my bike to a different spot .
So I just stood agreeing with my parking friend , as they disappeared in to the office , a mischievous plan hatching in my evil little mind……
I just waited a short while , and then dramatically barged in to the office , borrowed cell phone in hand - saying……………….
…”someone has stolen my bike ….the b**stards……so I’ve just phoned The Police “
Cue ……………one absolutely horrified looking parking attendant……………
…………….I just let him bluster for a while before spilling the beans ……. :)

A Cursin ‘ and a Swearin’…………..
Now as you all may know - I have been seconded to Union duties over the past few months – although I’ve been associated with this particular process for well over ten years .
The very nature of this task brings me in to close contact with scores of different managers on a daily basis , and after ten years very close study of this wide selection of people, it brings me to the startling conclusion that they are a bunch of …………..
……self important - worthless , boring c**ts …………
Oh yes ……I’ve just used the …..* C * …….. word :)
Now I tend to save this oh so “wonderful” word for very special occasions – only , and this being one of those moments , which is usually reserved for Politicians and of course Bankers ……..
Y ‘ know - I never actually realised how old, this particular rude word was.
It supposedly goes back to Medieval times , and the first known use age was around 1230 , and that referred to a road in Oxford that prostitutes frequented , charmingly – entitled - Gropecunte Lane , which has subsequently had its name changed to Magpie Lane
The irony being , that the self same place in London, has also been subsequently - renamed Threadneedle St , and that’s where the Bank of England - resides :)

“ Real World “ Thinking
I notice with interest - U.K. Prime Minister un elect - David Cameron , was taking some “well earned “ time away from “sharing the pain” , to attend the birthday party of one of the most reviled and hated politicians in modern history - Margaret Thatcher, and all on the taxpayers time – too.
Now - I was just wondering, if he took any of his banker / millionaire cabinet - buddies to the party , as they probably deserve a well earned break from
“sharing the pain “ - too., although I am surprised Cameron’s unholy bride to be
– Nick Clegg the Lib’ Dem’ Leader , was “ strangely” conspicuous by his absence……………….
I’m smiling here - as the thought of this bizarre little gathering makes The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party from Alice in Wonderland set in Dante’s Inferno - spring to my tiny little mind :)
Talking of politicians - I noticed the Chilean President was present all the time when they were pulling the trapped miners out – yesterday , this - as well as making several visits to the scene earlier - as the tragedy unfolded .
I’m just wondering if you’d get any of our politicians showing that type of consideration - instead of drinking tea with The Mad Hatter – Margaret Thatcher , .
Staying with the Chile connection - Thatcher actually invited a guy called General Pinochet who was a once brutal Dictator of Chile, to one of her own little soiree’s when she was in power , this of course - being the tip of the iceberg to her activities whilst in power .
I may be playing a dangerous game turning this particular piece in to humour , as I do know Margaret Thatcher was advised not to speak in public , but why I do not know , but believe me our current politicians courting her will have absolutely no positive effect on this country – what so ever .

The End ????????
Well - my trip to Japan was very rapidly coming to an end , and the limo that came to pick me up and take me to the airport , must have upgraded my status ever so slightly as it was waved straight through the cursory passport checks on the entrance to the airport .
It’s amazing what a bit of tinted glass - does- isn’t it :) , but to be honest I did show it when I went through immigration – later.
My flight routine was very much the same as going to Japan , as I cannot sleep on a plane , and don’t care much for the food either , but I must say - the 12 hour trip back home with my bottle of Coke and bar of chocolate , was made 100% easier by a wonderful stewardess named Ai from Hokkaido , and of course the hundred or so English Scouts who were surprisingly - dressed in kilts , who had no doubt been
“ volunteered “ to hand out drinks to the unsuspecting passengers :)
So after the sightseers dream - flight over central London , taking in all the sights of The Houses of Parliament ( bombs away :) ) , Buckingham Palace, Millennium Wheel , and various other places of disrepute / note , we came in to Heathrow Airport , only to be met with a delay opening the plane door…………
…….So ……had my past caught up with me……….. were Interpol officers poised outside ……………and was the Japanese officials - originally not looking at my passport a mere blind ………to put me off my guard ………
Nah – just a glitch with the embarkation access, and as we waited , we were admirably entertained by The Virgin staff who had dressed up some of their colleagues in embarrassing clothing , as is the custom in the U.K. for people leaving the company …………..talk about embarrassing…………..:)
The last question is of course ………did I get stopped by customs ….????........
………..and the answer to that is……….no f**king chance ……:)
I have of course missed things out of this travel log , which if my Japanese friend read - I’ve no doubt they will definitely remind me :).
I started this piece by quoting a travel writer as saying…………………

……….and yes - with hindsight I do agree , if it’s your first visit – there .
Although saying that, if you scratch the surface it gets even more unfamiliar, if that’s possible :) , personally I find Japan a true home from home – be it Earth , Mars or Uranus ……………and somehow think I’ll be back next year …………..:)

... ...ので...私に追いついた私の過去を... ... ...いた... ...外... ... ... ... ...穏やかなインターポールの役員されていた日本政府は - もともと単なるブラインド... ... ...私のガードを私を先送りにして私のパスポートを見ていない... ... ...

Nah – just a glitch with the embarkation access, and as we waited , we were admirably entertained by The Virgin staff who had dressed up some of their colleagues in embarrassing clothing , as is the custom in the U.K. for people leaving the company …………..talk about embarrassing…………..:)
The last question is of course ………did I get stopped by customs ….????........
………..and the answer to that is……….no f**king chance ……:)
I have of course missed things out of this travel log , which if my Japanese friend read - I’ve no doubt they will definitely remind me :).

Part 6 - Still Tokyo
Now – I had checked out a whole load of places to go and see some local bands , but was advised that the majority of the basement clubs , probably did not have air con .
So considering it was 40 degrees with high humidity , I decided it was probably a very bad idea , especially - since I had taken to walking a few hundred meters then diving in to a shop to cool off , and yes - it was that oppressive for us wimpy foreigners :)
So Japanese Black Metal - will have to wait till next time:)
Talking of heat - I had been getting an odd brown mark appearing on various bits of me , and it took a while to realise due to the even excessive heat , my watch strap was actually bleeding colour , so it was off to the local Japanese watch shop with a “massive budget” of …………….1000Yen………………
Now - long term readers will know my stories of buying “ top class” watches in
Japan :) , and the epic tales of trying to adjust the time using only Japanese language instructions , when I got home - but not this time , as I bought a watch with hands only , and you may have thought I’d have cottoned on to this one earlier – wouldn’t you :)
When visiting a place called Odaiba ( Tokyo Bay) - I came across what I suppose was an exhibition of new Toyota cars,.
This was interesting just for the cars , some with - Kimono’s on them , one with a giant flower growing out of the top of it , and of course all the weird and wonderful - concept cars , the technology centre also had the Honda Robot from the television advertisements in it , as well as a wealth of old cars from all over the world .
Later - I sat having a drink near the ever present vending machine , watching the families and their children put their grubby hands all over the cars on display , and afterwards the highly discreet young ladies wandering up , and removing the hand prints as if they were never there , so they were pristine , and of course - ready for the next set of kids :).
The big plus of visiting Japan in the summer - as I have said earlier - is the roof top swimming pool of the hotel is actually - open..
Now - I’m not one for sitting around the pool type of holidays , but it was absolute and utter - bliss - after you have been trekking around the city all day in 40 degrees heat going for a swim .
The problem being - it seemed the water was icy cold , although the polar bears and icebergs should have given it away :)
Something I first noticed when I first got to Tokyo was a high pitched metallic noise , which I took to be some kind of alarm or maybe bird scarer,.The hotel had a rooftop garden next to the pool, and I discovered the actual source of the noise which was a huge Cicada :)
Now in my defence - we don’t have Cicada’s in the U.K., and as I had not been to Japan in the summer before - I hadn’t encountered them , especially as the flora and fauna of Japan is surprisingly similar to the U.K., the only real difference being the huge blue iridescent butterflies that dart around and of course the monster crows that wake you up at 3am - flying around the skyscrapers :)

Part 5 Tokyo - Again................
So fond farewells to Osaka and Atsu - hopefully she will visit me again next year , as I’ve been talked in to going to Egypt , but will certainly return to Japan the year after .
The main new gadget in Tokyo seems to be 3D television , which looks good at the first viewing , but whether or not you can be bothered to wear the cumbersome glasses that go with it remains to be seen , and I think this will probably go the way of Betamax Videos , unless they can come up with a new system.
Talking of technology - I have been threatening to upgrade my camera to a Nikon D3X recently , well that was until I actually got a feel for one – that is :).
Unlike the U.K. - cameras and other goods , are just sat on the shelves for you to pick up , look at and try out , so I tried a D3X for size………….. .
Discovering to my horror, that it is well over double the weight of my current D90 , and feels like you are carrying a lead brick about , which is no good for someone like me who sometimes can’t be bothered lugging his D90 around, so I think I’ll invest in some new lenses instead , but not in Japan as the awful exchange rate nearly doubled the prices of everything from last time I was there..
Now - seeing as Tokyo is the safest city on earth I decided to venture out at night on a photography mission , thinking that it would be cooler in the evening – wrong :) , and of course I’d forgotten how quickly it got dark there too , so it was on to the metro in sunlight and off in the dark :), which was absolutely perfect for the night shots around Odaiba ( Tokyo Bay) which was absolutely deserted , compared to the daytime.
With several shots taken - I returned To Shinjuku and sat on the wall near the terrace garden of the station , noticing that the queue for Krispy Kreme doughnuts did not extend the 200 or so Meters across the bridge , which it normally did ……

……..shock horror …..has K.K. fallen out of favour in Japan…??.
So I was sat there for a while , when I was approached by four Japanese galz -
…….and .no not that sort ..:…..) , who wanted comments on their holistic healing business ……..
…….ye gods ….this is sounding even more dodgy as time goes on ……isn’t it )
It was the usual story of they could speak a little English and me a tiny piece of Japanese , but as I’ve found out , you can circumnavigate the language barrier if you really try.
It’s nice to see - the trust element in Japanese society still seems to be there - as I mentioned the above cameras lying around , but you also get people just leaving their laptops / cell phones - just lying as they go to get another coffee , and I have in the past , seen Harley’s left parked on the street with their keys still in them – unbelievable :)
This is definitely the difference between a trusting and non trusting society , and putting this is perspective with the U.K. - after looking at the many
“ money with menaces” signs that litter U.K. public transport for example .
I reckon the people instigate these signs , should be dropped in to a country with a completely different culture , with an inability to speak or read the language - fluently , and then put them in a queue for train tickets , with a gang of locals in a hurry - stood behind them :)

Part 4 - Faster than a Speeding Bullet ………..
When ever I go to Osaka , I tend to get the very early Shinkansen ( Bullet Train) train from Tokyo as this gives me more time- there , and I always think The Tokyo Metro to the station will be empty at 5.00 am on a Saturday morning – wrong – as usual :)
It certainly beats me where people are actually going / been , this early in the morning as it was standing room only , although the upcoming , ultimate ride of The Bullet Train kept me distracted from the crush., and at least it was too early for the guy’s with the white gloves pushing you – sardine like in to the carriage :)
Talking of video’s - I actually got around to filming part of the trip this time , although you cannot really appreciate the 400 mph speed unless your actually sat on the train , so please go experience it or yourself , and again I’ve described my trip on The Bullet Train in previous travel logs , so I won’t bore you all – yet again :)
Atsu was waiting at the station , and I was whisked off to Nara - which is a temple and park , complete with hordes of semi tame deer wandering around , the problem is if you feed them you are surrounded by 20 or so – deer - thank heaven for the elderly Japanese lady and the brush ………………
Lunch was at a restaurant I’ve cheekily christened …….
………Meaty all you can Eaty………….:) and consisted of food till you exploded .and of course we did , with Atsu insisting on a taxi to the station- afterwards
The unique thing being about “ Meaty all you can Eaty” actually called Viking which I assumed meant you can eat like a Viking – minus the horned helmet and ship of course , was a gas burner – read - Viking campfire :) set in the middle of the table - so you cooked the food - yourself - cue Atsu nearly burning the restaurant down – several times :)
Then it was back to Nara for a Summer Festival , which was best viewed at night as all the stone lanterns were lit around the temples with candles , a really magical experience….which again - surprisingly captured on video …….ah the wonders of modern technology :):
The hotel I stayed in was excellent, except it has the worlds smallest bath , which I very nearly got stuck in :) , although there was a phone in the bathroom so I could have called the front desk……….help …help…. in stuck………………..

The following day - Atsu also took m to a place called the Sky Garden , which is basically a skyscraper with cut away sides , external lifts and glass covered escalators that take you right to the top ……….very impressive ……and I actually remembered to video this too :)
Then it was on to lunch with her parents…………..
I felt I really had to really , really make an effort with my chopsticks , although Atsu had an “ emergency “ set of knives and forks in her bag.- which would probably be considered offensive weapons in the U.K. as the knife blades were probably six inches( 15 cm ) long and had a vicious serrated edge !!! .
I’ve mentioned before I find it difficult to actually hold chopsticks due to an injury on my arm , but I just went for it this time - never thought about it and even her dad seemed impressed , especially as I was eating octopus and squid at the time :)

アツはナイフとフォーク鞄に.-おそらくナイフの刃として英国の攻撃兵器であると考えられるでしょうの設定"緊急"だったが、私はおそらく六された、私は本当に、本当に私の箸を使って努力をしていた感じインチは（15 cm）の長さ、悪質な鋸歯状のエッジを持っていた！ 。

Part 3 -In Jail :)
The next few days consisted of trips to - Yoyogi Park , Ueno, Odaiba ,Shibuya - most of which have been covered in my previous travelogs , but I’ve also been to
a place called Alcatraz E.R.before but I think this warrants yet another piece…….
Ok Alcatraz E.R. is a theme restaurant – nothing unusual you may think there , but think again……………
The theme is a ……………PRISON HOSPITAL ……. !!!
You get handcuffed as you enter by a skimpily clad waitress in a “nurses “uniform , and then led to your cell.
The drink is served in a test tube , and food is served in stainless - kidney shaped surgical dishes , you have to rattle the bars to get more food and drink , and there are all sorts of weird people in costume and masks wandering around.
Atsuko and her friend were the hosts for this evening and had never been to Alcatraz before , but really had a good time
It was so hot in Japan I had packed my Converses but had not worn them , but for some odd reason I’d put them on tonight , so when the meal was finished I watched as the gal’s disappeared off , as I struggled to put my boots on , which attracted the attention of two of the waitresses , and they ended up on the floor putting my boots on for me , then a guy walked around the corner open mouthed and said in broken English ………….
………… “ sorry ………..thought I’d walked in to a porn movie…….. “
The Metropolitan Government host guided tours , and I had booked myself on one which was advertised as “Nature Walk – Half an Hour outside Tokyo., and was actually to a place called Kokobungi .
This was certainly a part of Tokyo I had never experienced before , with streams running alongside the houses and plenty of trees and woods .There were several large vacant spots amid the houses , that had previously belonged to nobody , and seemingly bought up by the local government to stop people building shopping malls which would totally spoil the ambience of the place , we also visited a temple and the guide said it was linked with the biggest wooden temple in Japan , which is in Nara and this just happened to be where my good friend Atsu was taking me to later in the week ., but I’m ahead of myself – here :)

Part 2 – Itinerary in the U.K.
This time around – I had actually made myself a very rough itinerary ……..
SHOCK , HORROR ……. and this was mainly due to the massive amount of places I wanted to visit , and you can probably guess where that was – yes that’s right - on the table at home, in the U.K
Never mind your anarchy……... ……….”I wanna be……. Itinerary….”:)
I usually visit Japan in late May as it is cooler and less busy , so the heat and mass of people was a bit of a shock, venturing out the next day , and not to put too finer point on it I was extremely hot and sweaty within a mere 10 yards or so :), so thank heaven for vending machines and ice cold air conditioned shops , the key is to keep hydrated, a point which was unfortunately - missed on a group of Italian tourists who couldn’t understand why one of their party was nearly passing out , at a temple I visited later in the day.
I saw them go and get one of the assistants at the temple to help them , but unfortunately this guy was fairly elderly and couldn’t speak English , so I asked if they spoke English , my Italian been confined to - Ferrari , pizza and ciao ;)
Luckily they could , so I explained their friend was severely dehydrated and gave her a bottle of water out of my bag and insisted she drink it , they then insisted in paying for the water , but in the face of good Anglo – Italian relationships I refused :) ,
Not to put too finer point on it - It was so hot I actually bought myself a traditional styled fan , and judging by the odd looks I was getting it must have been pretty unusual for a pasty faced – western guy to be wandering around with one , although I have subsequently learned it was the hottest Summer in Japan for 150 or so years
I had also arranged a trip to a place called Mount Mitake via a group called Tokyo Free Guide on Saturday , and had been in touch with a lovely lady called Akemi a few months before my departure , via e- mail
We met up , and set off on the train to Mt Mitake early that morning, joining in with the seasoned Japanese hikers as we went .
Now hiking up a mountain side in the Japanese summer , especially as the air got thinner as you climbed , does not really sound like a good idea , but believe me when you got to the top it was definitely well worth it , actually we cheated a little by taking the cable car up the first leg and walking the rest , needless to say even this was hard for us “poor” English , so a welcome hot bath and splendid country style Japanese meal again both arranged by Akemi was absolute and utter heaven
The following Sake tasting session , and stroll along the riverside was the perfect end to the perfect day .

SHOCK , HORROR ……. and this was mainly due to the massive amount of places I wanted to visit , and you can probably guess where that was – yes that’s right - on the table at home, in the U.K
Never mind your anarchy……... ……….”I wanna be……. Itinerary….”:)
I usually visit Japan in late May as it is cooler and less busy , so the heat and mass of people was a bit of a shock, venturing out the next day , and not to put too finer point on it I was extremely hot and sweaty within a mere 10 yards or so :), so thank heaven for vending machines and ice cold air conditioned shops , the key is to keep hydrated, a point which was unfortunately - missed on a group of Italian tourists who couldn’t understand why one of their party was nearly passing out , at a temple I visited later in the day.
I saw them go and get one of the assistants at the temple to help them , but unfortunately this guy was fairly elderly and couldn’t speak English , so I asked if they spoke English , my Italian been confined to - Ferrari , pizza and ciao ;)
Luckily they could , so I explained their friend was severely dehydrated and gave her a bottle of water out of my bag and insisted she drink it , they then insisted in paying for the water , but in the face of good Anglo – Italian relationships I refused :) ,
Not to put too finer point on it - It was so hot I actually bought myself a traditional styled fan , and judging by the odd looks I was getting it must have been pretty unusual for a pasty faced – western guy to be wandering around with one , although I have subsequently learned it was the hottest Summer in Japan for 150 or so years
I had also arranged a trip to a place called Mount Mitake via a group called Tokyo Free Guide on Saturday , and had been in touch with a lovely lady called Akemi a few months before my departure , via e- mail
We met up , and set off on the train to Mt Mitake early that morning, joining in with the seasoned Japanese hikers as we went .
Now hiking up a mountain side in the Japanese summer , especially as the air got thinner as you climbed , does not really sound like a good idea , but believe me when you got to the top it was definitely well worth it , actually we cheated a little by taking the cable car up the first leg and walking the rest , needless to say even this was hard for us “poor” English , so a welcome hot bath and splendid country style Japanese meal again both arranged by Akemi was absolute and utter heaven
The following Sake tasting session , and stroll along the riverside was the perfect end to the perfect day .

Here We Go........
A few weeks ( read months ) ago - whilst embarking on my holiday , I picked up a music magazine and noted my “old mates” - Linkin Park were touring , but unfortunately nowhere remotely near where I live .
So three weeks , and many swear words later , I get back to the U.K. and notice an e- mail giving me priority tickets to an added a gig to their tour schedule , which is a mere 12 miles away from where I’m sitting writing this :)
Marvellous…………. the perfect end to a wonderful holiday ……………………
Part One - “ Mad Dogs and Englishmen …….”

Several of my Japanese friends were actually seriously concerned , when I announced I was visiting Japan in the Summer , as it is extremely hot and humid there , but me being an Englishman as opposed to a mad dog – just went for it ……………
What with all the comings and goings of this particular year , it never really hit me that I was on my way, till I was actually boarding the plane at Heathrow, which was the aptly named - Scarlet Lady ……alongside the hundred or so Japanese school kids returning home.
When you fly East you are chasing the sun , so there is a dark oval area roughly over central Russia , so I flipped the planes shades up when we entered this zone .I
t’s never quiet dark here, more like twilight which illuminated the four tributaries of a vast river crossing the wide open spaces , 33,000 feet below me , the outside temperature indicated an unbelievable minus 37 , so I shivered and pulled the shade back down ………………….as the plane flew on over the fringes of The Arctic Ocean ……………….BRRRRRRRRRRRR……….:)
So - twelve sleepless hours later - the opening of the oven …sorry ….sorry…..plane door at the other end , gave me a little taste of what was to come. ….:)
I’m probably tempting fate - yet again by saying - I never ever get stopped by customs …………it must be my honest face :) , but this time was no exception – either , as I was then whisked away to The Keio Plaza Hotel by a smart uniformed guy complete with hat and white gloves in a nice air conditioned Merc’ limo………………
……………….swish or what……..:)
The majority of the rest of the day ( or in my case – the early hours of the morning ) , was spent acclimatizing by the side of the swimming pool on the seventh floor roof
terrace , which is never usually open in late May when I normally visit , finally retiring to bed at midnight ( read 9am ) - having been awake for 36 hours – straight

スカーレットレディ... ... 100人ほど日本人と一緒に - 私は実際に適切に命名されたヒースロー空港で飛行機に搭乗したまでどのようなすべての出入り、この特定の年のと、それは本当に、私は道にあったことを私にヒットしない学校の子供たちが帰国。
あなたは太陽を追っている東飛ぶときので、中央ロシアで約暗い楕円形の部分があるので、私たちがこのゾーンに入ったときに日陰面を反転します。私を

私はおそらく魅力的な運命だ - またして言って - 私が今までに税関で引っかかってしまうことが... ... ... ...それが私の正直な顔をする必要があります：）が、今回も例外ではない - のいずれか、私は、慶應義塾に連れ去られたように素敵な空気中のスマート制服を着た男は帽子と白い手袋とされ、完全なプラザホテルは、傭兵'リムジン条件... ... ... ... ... ...
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...パッまたは何... ... ..：）
その日の残りの大部分（または、私の場合は - 朝の早い時間）で、五月下旬には決して通常開いている第七階の屋上テラスでプールの側でacclimatizing過ごしたとき、私は通常訪問は、最終的に夜中にベッドに引退（午前9時を読む...） - 36時間の覚醒された - ストレート

Planet Tokyo ????
The above is an old photo shopped picture, I took in Tokyo on my first trip – there , and I “imaginatively “ entitled it Planet Tokyo - mainly because it does look like another planet after I finished messing around with it – more than anything.:)
Now supposedly ………………
“ Tokyo is the nearest thing you can get , to going to another planet “
……………according to one travel article , I read recently :).
My own travels- there , are pretty well documented over the years , and range from the initial culture shock of the first time , and believe me it really, really is a
shock :), to how I’ve now become increasingly familiar with not only Tokyo but Japan , and its people over the years.
I’ve said this in the past - Tokyo itself looks like a modern - Western City , but scratch the surface and it really is very , very different , and if you can understand this your well on your way – whether or not it’s another planet or not - remains to be seen.
Due to my enthusiasm for the place , I’ve always had a lot of people ask me why I continue to visit , and it’s simply because of this total and utter diversity .
To be honest - I’m not really an adventurous person , .I cannot speak Japanese fluently , have got an awful sense of direction , had not tried Japanese food , but I had read extensively about the customs and codes before my initial visit , learnt a few words of the language , and of course - practiced my lost tourist face.:)
I think the web can cushion you a little to these effects , as I actually ran across a website before my first trip – there , and this is an absolute goldmine of information about Japan- I still use it - and heartily recommend it to anyone who is even considering going there .

Up Periscope
I was riding from work today on my trusty mountain bike, minding my own business - as usual :) , when I saw this guy who I’d never seen before , walking along the path in the opposite direction , and he shouts at me ………………
…………….“ you need some sun on your legs ” …………………
and then added…………………..
…………“ it looks like you’ve been in a submarine for a few months” ……………..
Well - after nearly falling off my bike at the sheer cheek of it all , I then replied…………
…… “ yeah - I’m actually a Captain of a Russian Nuclear Submarine in my spare time , and have been out on patrol in the North Atlantic for the last few years , testing the evil capitalists defences……
……….hence the legs “ :)
Then I shot off in to the wide blue yonder - greatcoat flapping in the wind , holding on to my bearskin hat with one hand , and the launch codes in the other ………………
……..muttering ……………
………...”that evil capitalist pig will be first up against the wall come the glorious revolution…”…….…

The first was last Monday - when I was made aware of a health and safety situation by a colleague at work .This was basically the fact - our cleaners only had a front door key to our building , and if a fire broke out they might be trapped , as the back door could be locked..
I suppose this may never happen , but they were concerned enough to ask their boss for a key , but apparently they are special key’s – read as expensive , so they couldn’t have one !!!
Now - I just happen to have a spare key to the door , so rather than complain about their bosses total lack of interest in health and safety of his workers , and prolong the situation , I just put my spare on a hook near the back door – sorted :)
The upside now being all the special little touches in my office courtesy of the cleaners , and of course the ability to sleep at night - all this for a spare key :)
The second was
I was off work on the following - Friday , so i went out for a trip in the morning and came back just after lunch , and I was pulling in to my drive when I spotted some of the local kids distributing leaflets.
Now - if you believe certain people - youth is the scuge of the nation , so just after I had got in to the house I heard the letter box click , and the doorbell ring ..................
So I picked up my baseball bat , as they were probably going to attack me and steal all the family silver ...........continued paranoid corner .... :) , but surprisingly not – as they had just rang my doorbell to tell me that i’d stupidly - left my the key in the
lock :)
I’ve always been a great advocate of “one good turn - deserves another “ , so I then phoned the number on the flyer , asked for the manager , and explained what an honest pair of employees he had working for him ............ ..
............top marks for those guy’s when they got back ..................:)

Well - I walked in on a dodgy deal going on today at work , and that was the loan of a plastic guitar and a DVD , not very dodgy - I hear you all thinking - but bear with

The guy doing the loaning of the PS3 Game – Rock star and plastic guitar was
Evil Don - so the plot thickens, but more so when the person doing the borrowing was one of our Bedwetter friends……………..

Yum.......Yum...........
Talking of religion, as I was – yesterday , I saw a news article saying that there was a service – recently - commemorating the death of the very last Sin Eater over 100 years ago
Now me being highly curious as too what this odd phrase , meant – I looked it up and it basically means - getting a destitute person to eat food over your body when you died , hence eating your sins and figuratively taking them on , which of course assured you a place in heaven………..easy as that……………
Well not if I’m on duty at The Pearly Gates - you wouldn’t :)
The poor person actually eating the sins – yes , but the rich taking advantage of him – well that would be a one way trip downwards to see the red guy with the pointy tail – time :)
This being rather like my old mate ex U.K.Prime Minister- Tony Blair who has now started donating money to the victims of war , which he ironically - started, and this wouldn’t have anything to do with his conversion to Roman Catholicism – would
it , and why does the phrase “buying your way in to heaven “ spring to my mind

Livin ' in the Third World
It has come to my attention - that I am apparently living in a Third World Country.....
................ * looks out of window* ...... ........
...............but nothing seems to have changed ............
....................hang on though i’ll just check ............no all the same ........
...............but no........wait .....what’s this ........
.........an army of people coming up the street in drab clothes , driving their 1.1 Korean
cars , with signs saying ...........
................no to contraception , no to gay’s , no to other religions, no to abortion , and of course , no to women ........although young boys are ok ..........allegedly ...........
Never mind The Third World ...........welcome to the Middle Ages.......
......and don’t even mention The Spanish Inquistion ......cue a whole lot of Monty Python jokes.......:)
To be honest - I’m not sure this Pope character should really be visiting a poor third world country like us , and expect us to finance his visit.
Actually i’ve got a great idea - The Catholic Church actually charge admission toall the events he is visiting in this country – so how about this money goes to finance his Holinesses visit , and maybe other countries can do this too :)
I suspect his Holiness would probably be holidaying at home in the future , counting his billions , if this happened ........:)

Ye Gods !!!
I've just pressed the next blog button - several times , and the next ten or so blogs are all written by bible bashers.................
Now - i'm hoping my stuff hasn't been placed in the wrong section i.e. narrow minded - hypocrites r us :)

The Race
I was riding back from The Sports Centre on my mountain bike – today.
Ambling along minding my own business when I was passed at high speed by a be- helmeted and fully lycra - clad , so - called “ professional” rider on another bike , who obviously wanted a race judging by the fact he kept slowing down and looking back ……………………..
To be honest it was such a nice day , and I couldn’t really be bothered - , so I just continued at the speed I was going at , especially as the very steep hill with the 90 degree turn was coming up , and if you got that one wrong ………..
.…………… its concrete fence post - time :)…………………
Now - my professional rider friend - was going that fast down the hill he barely made the turn and the loving embrace of the fence posts , but in doing so he went very wide - hitting a few bumps , and consequently ended up in a lycra ripped heap - several feet in to the brambles , after performing an unexpected , but very, very impressive - Evel Knievel type- stunt :)
So I eventually caught up , stopped , and then cheerily said , as I pulled him and his crumpled bike out of the undergrowth .………….
……. “ you’ll need to buy yourself - stars and stripes - leathers, helmet and a Harley if you want to do that sort of thing for a living ………mate ………..” :)

Now - my professional rider friend - was going that fast down the hill he barely made the turn and the loving embrace of the fence posts , but in doing so he went very wide - hitting a few bumps , and consequently ended up in a lycra ripped heap - several feet in to the brambles , after performing an unexpected , but very, very impressive - Evel Knievel type- stunt :)
So I eventually caught up , stopped , and then cheerily said , as I pulled him and his crumpled bike out of the undergrowth .………….
……. “ you’ll need to buy yourself - stars and stripes - leathers, helmet and a Harley if you want to do that sort of thing for a living ………mate ………..” :)

それは、このような素敵な一日だった、と私は本当に気にすることができませんでした正直に言うと - ので、私は、交流来ていた90度回転と非常に急な坂特に、私が行っていたの速度で継続している場合チャート、1つ間違っている... ... ...
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...その具体的なフェンスポスト - 時間：）... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
- 今私のプロライダーの友人 - 彼はかろうじてターンをした愛情は、フェンスポストの抱擁が、やって彼は非常に広い行ったので、丘を下ることが高速で走っていた - は、いくつかのバンプを押すと、その結果、ライクラで終わったリッピングヒープ - するには、いくつかの足イバラ、しかし、非常に印象的な予期を実行した後に - Evel Knievelのタイプスタント：）

Day of the Eagle
I’m not really in to what I would call old / retro music , but I will occasionally slip :)
Today’s or I should say tonight’s - slippage comes in the guise of a gig which I’m going to , and the guy in question was veteran rock/blues guitarist - Robin Trower
Robin who ..??? ….I hear you thinking :)
Well if nothing else , you can certainly trust me, if I do regress in to the “gold old day’s “ the subject will not be mainstream , and can you honestly see me as being a closet Take That fan for example - no – I thought not :)
The subject of Take That comes up on here , as a friend of mine has been badgering me to let her use my e- mail addy , to apply for their tour tickets .
Take That…. !!!…...
Now - I reckon anybody outside The U.K. will probably be thinking …..
………………Take …who ???.................
…..as it’s the usual case here of a band being big here , and absolutely - nowhere else in the world .
The irony being - rather like when the bands singer - Robbie Williams went solo for a while , and was given several million Pounds by Sony Records to try and make a career for himself in The U.S. - and failed miserably
Simply because - both his , and to a lesser extent - Take That ‘s - style of music does not travel well outside these shore’s..
Saying that - I’ve got absolutely no doubt their tour , which surprisingly does not venture outside of The U.K. will be sold out several times over - most likely to a horde of middle aged people who will be dressed as 12 year olds at the gig - which will be unlike tonight’s show :)
Now- where’s that old Iron Maiden T shirt and leather jacket , I used to wear – years ago :)

されて皮肉なことに - ロビーウィリアムズは、しばらくの間、ソロを行ってしようとする自分自身のキャリアを米国でソニーレコードが数百万ポンドを与えられていません - - と悲惨な失敗ではなくバンド歌手の時に好き
というだけの理由 - の両方が、彼の、そしてより少ない程度にして - だからしてください - 音楽のスタイルは、これらの海岸の井戸の外で進むのではなく..

Kulture Vulture – yet again :)
Yet another trip to London coming up on Saturday , except this one is
strictly - cultural :) , and does surprisingly - not include a quest for a Victorian dress down Camden Market – either :) , but does include a trip to The Tate Modern , which is an art gallery , as you all know :)
You will also know my love / hate relationship with modern art , and all the various characters associated with it , as it’s been well and truly been documented to death on here :) .
Unlike the other various trips to The Tate , I’m not going to see any exhibition in particular , but I do know , there is a display of French Post Impressionist – painter – Gauguin , and a photographic exhibition entitled - Exposed , currently running ……
……………….talk about sublime to the ridiculous :)
Gauguin’s style whilst being pleasing to the eye , is a little too primitive for my own tastes , so I think I’ll stick with the photography , which after further reading is snaps taken without people’s knowledge , or “on the sly” as The Tate so aptly describes it
I think voyeurism is probably not really an appropriate description here , there are no sexual connotations to this exhibition , well not to my knowledge :).
I personally prefer photographs of things – rather than people , but the ones I do like tend to be the non posed type , so I’d imagine this exhibition is probably right up my street , as it hopefully - displays real people doing real things.- albeit without their knowledge :)
Five Second – “ Diplomacy ” - Korner

Would I be right in thinking that the gentlemen who want to build a Mosque near the 9/11 site , and the other gentleman who advocates a “ burn the Quran day” - all need their heads knocking together ……..
……………or am I being overly violent ……
…………..and they should merely be told to go and stand in the corner - wearing their dunces hats :)

テイト他の様々な旅行とは異なり、私は特定の任意の展覧会を見に行くんだけど、私は知っていますか、そこにフランスのポスト印象派の表示 - 画家 - ゴーガン、写真展と題する - 露出、現在実行中です... ...
... ... ... ... ... ...約ばかばかしいに崇高な話：）
目にゴーギャンのスタイルながらはされて楽しいが、少しも自分の好みの原始的なので、私は後にさらに読書は、人々の知識、または"なし撮影スナップです写真、にこだわると思うずる"テートとしてので、適切にそれを記述する
私がのぞき、おそらくは本当に適切な説明はここだと思う、この展覧会には性的な意味合いは私の知識、よくはしています：）。
それがうまくいけば - が表示されます人々が実際のことをやって、私が個人的に物事の写真を好む - 人ではなく、かえって私は好きですか非脅威の種類が多いので、私はこの展覧会を想像するだろう右私の通りを、です。 - 知識はないものの：）
