I was looking at all the various countries on Google Earth the other day - after finding an embarrassing street shot of one of my female friends - backsides, putting up a sign in their shop …………WOOOOPS..………..and I didn’t break my neck to point this out to her………………honest…………. :)
I don’t know if its just me , but I do prefer the old fashioned names for places , for example - Persia , Mesopotamia , Constantinople , Mauritania , Hispaniola and of course - England :) ….. to name but a few , and this is probably because these older names paint a picture as regards these places , that their modern counterparts do not - for some reason .
Take –
The United Kingdom of England , Scotland , Wales and Northern Ireland .which is the full name of the U.K., is a bit of a mouthful at the best of times , never mind - sounding like an autocracy in a sci fi novel ………..
……hmmmm….. saying nothing here ……..19…8…….4…. :)
So - I then had a quick scan around all the very small islands dotted around the
world , and if they actually had names ,I’d never really heard of them , especially a very obscure one - called ………..
………Tukoes Wani…….pronounced …….Too- keyos Wah’ni ……
……..which apparently means in English……Violent Isolated Race …
………….so don’t go there for your holidays :)
Anyway …...I’m willing to bet you’ve never heard of that one – have you :)
So go break out Google Earth , and see if you can find it …………………
Now …could it be in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean , lapped by azure seas…..?
…….sheltering near the poles - covered in ice - eight months of the year ……?
……..or possibly a newly created - island state off Africa…………?
