Yes the flying of The Three Lions denotes its St Georges Day in The U.K. – yet again.
St George is The Patron Saint of England , and I was very surprised to find out our dragon slaying friend must have got about a bit in his youth , as he is also The Patron
Saint of –
Germany , Spain and Valencia; Portugal, Cyprus, Greece, Georgia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Macedonia, and the cities of Moscow in Russia, Genova in Italy, Ljubljana in Slovenia, Beirut in Lebanon, Qormi and Victoria in Malta and many others , including Albania and Kosovo …etc…etc…etc……..
Ye gods !!! - there must have been a few dragons about in those days , you can trust us English to go and sort that out – though :)
Now - I carefully chose the Gold Three Lions , which is the symbol of our own royal family, over our own national flags a few years ago , as both the Union Jack and The Cross of St George have been unfortunately - high jacked by racists and of course the football hooligans over the years - as I’ve said before .
A few months ago - I saw a demonstration against immigration on T.V. by a hard right group called “ The English Defence League “ which is a fine and mighty title for a group of people , who are essentially – a set of shaven headed racist - thugs ,
and guess what these idiots were actually flying The Three Lions Flag !!!
The hijacking of our national symbols by these morons , is of course all our own fault , as The English have never been a patriotic race , and that’s probably why this was allowed to happen in the past , bit It now gets to the ridiculous point where , unless it’s a football match , if you fly our national flags you are misconstrued as a racist - hence me using The Three Lions.
I do wish these idiots would stop hiding behind our national symbols , and just fly their true colours , as I’m sure they would love to break out the old symbols of Fascism- but hey - aren’t they just are cowards - hiding behind a veil of faux nationalism and respectability, by using our own countries flags .
Looking at it from a positive view , all the other countries sharing the same Saint does unite us to an extent , a fact that the ranting racists should note when trying to inevitably - hi jack the flag , and consequently this day .
