Sailing the Seas

I notice the yacht load of English sailors that were captured yesterday by our old mates the Iranians - have been subsequently released - but without the usual propaganda coup associated with such events .

Now - considering the Iranian President is usually a “right workey ticket “ ( a phrase meaning “to be awkward “ ) - I just wonder if it’s the fact that the fact that the ship they were sailing on was owned by the Saudi’s - had any bearing on the matter , or if the Iranian authorities had come to the conclusion they were doing…………

……… “ no evil “………………..

……EVIL !!!……

……………these Iranians - REALLY - need to get out more…….don’t they :)

Anyway - this sort of thing is definitely an English pastime - isn’t it – as who else would go -

Yachting - in a hotly disputed - costal area .

Taking a walking holiday through a war zone ,.

Merrily sailing through pirate infested waters .

…….or hiking up a mountainside in shorts and t shirt in a blizzard !!!

Why do we do this - I hear you ask …………

…..Well why not !!! …were English and can go where ever we jolly well want :)

Seriously –

It always seems to be some one from this country that gets caught up in these crazy situations, and if was anyone else , you would think they were up to no good , but find out where we are from , and people just throw their head back and exclaim……….
……oh they are English !!! …….. as if that’s perfectly alright ……..!!! .

Now you all know where the phrase “ mad dogs and Englishmen…..” comes from , and I can cheerfully report that this ancient spirit is still alive and very well , and is probably taking a well earned vacation in a minefield ……… somewhere :)
