Now for you who don’t know our current queen is a dog lover , and her favourite breed is of course - the Corgi.
What you may not know - Corgi is also the name of an organisation in the U.K. which trains and certifies firms , who install and service gas appliances i.e. fire’s , cookers , heaters …etc… etc…etc …
This is because the law in the U.K. states that any work carried out concerning gas has to be done by a Corgi registered firm , and this aside - common sense says - improper installation , can of course cause a fire or even an explosion .
Fat Al - one of my work colleagues was in the toolbox today , looking for the biggest spanner I had , as he was doing some DIY at home and this was installing a ….
……..and yes you guessed it… gas fire ……!!!........
Now - I could list the equipment Fat Al has broken at work over the past few years , but I’d be on for ages - so instead I’ll tell you about his latest D.I.Y exploits instead -
Which consisted of him literally ripping a radiator off the wall at his house , but he forgot to turn the water off in the pipe , and ended up with several gallons of water on the floor , and then in another incident – he drilled through yet another floor in to the asbestos cladding below , and as if that wasn’t bad enough - straight through a gas pipe !!! .
Anyway - back to the present , and Fat Al - then went on to say –
…“ he wanted the spanner to get at a nut on the fire , which was in a very inaccessible place “ ….
So I said –
…“ the nut was probably reachable with the spark proof - special tool a
Corgi approved - gas fitter had in his extensive tool kit “…
……..and was just met with a strange- blank look ……..
Then again …
FatAl probably saw the Queen’s dogs on television - once ……
……….so that’s ok :)
