The next few days consisted of trips to - Yoyogi Park , Ueno, Odaiba ,Shibuya - most of which have been covered in my previous travelogs , but I’ve also been to
a place called Alcatraz E.R.before but I think this warrants yet another piece…….
Ok Alcatraz E.R. is a theme restaurant – nothing unusual you may think there , but think again……………
The theme is a ……………PRISON HOSPITAL ……. !!!
You get handcuffed as you enter by a skimpily clad waitress in a “nurses “uniform , and then led to your cell.
The drink is served in a test tube , and food is served in stainless - kidney shaped surgical dishes , you have to rattle the bars to get more food and drink , and there are all sorts of weird people in costume and masks wandering around.
Atsuko and her friend were the hosts for this evening and had never been to Alcatraz before , but really had a good time
It was so hot in Japan I had packed my Converses but had not worn them , but for some odd reason I’d put them on tonight , so when the meal was finished I watched as the gal’s disappeared off , as I struggled to put my boots on , which attracted the attention of two of the waitresses , and they ended up on the floor putting my boots on for me , then a guy walked around the corner open mouthed and said in broken English ………….
………… “ sorry ………..thought I’d walked in to a porn movie…….. “
The Metropolitan Government host guided tours , and I had booked myself on one which was advertised as “Nature Walk – Half an Hour outside Tokyo., and was actually to a place called Kokobungi .
This was certainly a part of Tokyo I had never experienced before , with streams running alongside the houses and plenty of trees and woods .There were several large vacant spots amid the houses , that had previously belonged to nobody , and seemingly bought up by the local government to stop people building shopping malls which would totally spoil the ambience of the place , we also visited a temple and the guide said it was linked with the biggest wooden temple in Japan , which is in Nara and this just happened to be where my good friend Atsu was taking me to later in the week ., but I’m ahead of myself – here :)
