They say smells of certain things - take you back years………………………..
I definitely think this is true , and to be honest , an awful lot of stuff take me back to my school days for some strange reason , and I reckon I must have been mentally scarred by it all :)
For example - on my way home from work I pass our canteen so the memories of school dinners, spring to my own tiny mind :)
The smell of wood takes me back to Technical Drawing lessons at school .
Metal to Metalwork lessons and so on , and so on ………………..
A trip out on my bike last week had me regressing even further in to the past , as going past some cottages , I smelt something that really took me back to my very early youth ……………….coal fires…………
Now - this used to be a common place thing in this area , as a good section of the population got free coal as a perk from working down the mines , but alas due to smokeless zones and closed mines its a very , very rare thing today .
It’s supposedly Spring here at the moment , although minus 5 degrees C says
otherwise , and you still have lots of leaves on the cycle track at the moment , thus there is a wonderful earthy smell as you ride through them , and I just wonder in the future , will this aroma - bring me back to now :)

I have however , received a list of duties for next week , but with the provisor that they could change at any time !!! - although saying that - I’m just hoping the one earmarked for 16.00 on Monday afternoon will change , as its against my “religion “ to stay at work beyond 15.30………….:)
