We are off to see a band called Saxon in a few months time , one of who’s tracks is called - Wheels of Steel - in Evil Don’s car which just happens to be called the same silly name , and yes its finally fixed and runs “perfectly” with its shiny new exhaust ……………..well for the moment …………..:)
The not so - down on their luck band - Anvil are supporting Saxon , and that’s the real reason why we are going - to be honest - oh don’t we English just love the under
dog ………especially ones that lick your face after you have fallen off your bike :).
Anyway - the gig itself is in the place that was the inspiration for Bladerunner ………
…..Hong Ko………no hang on its ……..Teesside……… :)
Thus - last week - we did a little explore of the area as regards , car parks and where the gig actually is , mainly because neither of us have been to this venue , and with Bladerunner in mind , I also got a few moving shots of the industrial landscapes through the vehicle window , which were disappointing to put it mildly.
Many years ago my dad used to work in this particular area, and I can remember going with him on the odd occasion , and being taken aback by the sheer size of the place, but what sticks in my mind was an odd smell hanging around , of which I can only describe as being like - air leaking out of a car tyre - bizarre .
So - the plus point of these trips is I can remember roughly how to get in the middle of the chemical works , and of course now I can try and take some proper - atmospheric photographs , and I may explore this over the coming weekends , so you can expect an epic tale of me falling in to a vat of chemicals and ending up like
The Joker from Batman ……………
…”anyone wanna see a pencil disappear “…. :)
