We were talking about live music today , and were corrected on some of the more technical terminology , we were using , by one of our …..errrrrr…..more …errrrr……senior members of staff ………………….
Now , according to our resident Rip Van Winkle –
“a gig is a horse drawn carriage” , and…………………….
“ a band is something that is made of rubber , is elastic and used to secure things together………………”
I was then quiet reliably informed that , the correct terminology we should be using is – concert and group - respectively .
Well this of course this tripped us all off………………………..
………….. as the next part of the conversation included ……………………
………..soiree’s , appassionato’s , tertian harmony’s , orchestration , lute’s , conductors, concerto’s and quartet’s ……………..
……………to name but a few :) , and I quote…………
……………….. “a total lack of respect for our elders and betters” …………….
……………….. the words – kitchen and heat - spring to my own mind :)
